Also listen in the near-field. Was running an 11wpc EL84 based amp driving the Focal 1008Be IIs speakers on their dedicated stands and they were sublime. An even better choice might be their newer Sopra 1 speakers. Both right on the line of being considered 'high efficiency' at 89db sensitivity. My current Canton Reference 9K speakers are great with SS, but the Focals are better with the low power tubes. I listen to classic jazz, classical, opera & occasional classic rock. The Focals are terrific.
