No contest for me; burl wins. I tend to like gear and system aesthetics that display softer or more controlled contrasts/transitions of shapes, textures/colors, and materials. The birds eye sides are just too much going immediately from organic patterns to high-tech smooth materials, AND blinding white to pitch black colors (yes feel free to tell me how much I botched up my own philosophy in my own system lol). The burl side handle the transition far more elegantly. Looks awesome!!!
I also don't like the hard geometric contrasts imposed by the VXR posts (and dislike square posts in general). The MXR looks way better!!
