Joe, as an owner of a pair of X260.8's I can appreciate your concerns for 'heat'. With that said and given the amount of initial bias into Class A they do get 'warm', but I have never had them get 'hot' in my listening space (14'6" x 24').
Depending on which Mac amp you choose (tubes ?) you will have the same concern
