We had the same thing with our English Setter. When she cried as a pup, she sounded just like a human baby. It definitely takes time for them to get used to being alone at night, especially when they are so young. Our breeder wouldn't even let the pups go until they were 12 weeks. An eight week old needs a lot of tender care.

Enjoy your new addition to the family. Dogs are great. NOTHING can compare to the love and loyalty you get from a dog.
