I note that when dialing in my SDS every few months or so, placing the stylus in the record grooves WILL slow the speed of the platter even with a Superplatter on an HRX. It is not a substantial difference, but it is measurable and can be heard if one listens closely enough. Because a stylus in grooves containing loud passages slow the platter speed more than soft passages, I try to work with passages that are moderate and fix the speed there. I'm not interested in adjusting the speed more than once every few months.
