I connect HDMI from an Ayre DX-5 DSD disc player to HDMI 1 of the SP3, connect HDMI out from the SP3 to the projector, and balanced front LR analog from the SP3 to a by-pass input of an Ayre KX-5 Twenty preamp. No video, but HDMI video sent from the DX-5 directly to the projector is excellent. HDMI audio sent from through the SP3 to the KX-5 sounds nearly as good as stereo analog from the DX-5 to the KX-5.
I've had the SP3 for years and have no idea what HDMI unit is in it. My only reason for wanting to use HDMI video output from the SP3 is to pass video from a Cox cable box.
