Thumbs up 👉 Wild Turkey honors its long-time distiller with a Diamond Anniversary Bourbon 👈

Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary, $125

To honor the man, Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, who all but created the modern-day bourbon industry on the anniversary of his 60th year with the company.

Shown here with his son, Eddie, who now stewards the brand.

The brand’s Diamond Anniversary edition honors company master distiller Jimmy Russell on just that very occasion. Russell reported for work in 1954 and hasn’t taken a break since.

From Market Watch:

Quote:
What we think about it: This is a beaut of a bourbon. We like the fact that it isn’t too sweet, not too harsh and not too smoky — instead, it has a rounded taste (Drinkhacker.com calls it “one of the gentlest whiskeys” around) that makes it dangerously easy to drink (that is, until you remember it’s 91 proof). We get a nice mouthful of buttered corn and dark chocolate in every sip. And yes, it’s pricey, but it’s also relatively rare — just 36,000 bottles are being released in the U.S.

How to enjoy it: Don’t make a mint julep with this one. Instead, savor it neat — or if the proof is a little much, add a few cubes of ice or water. And offer an anniversary toast to Jimmy as you enjoy your first sip.
