I also remove, clean and reconnect all system connections annually. I also do one extra safety check: I have a FLIR ir heat sensor that attaches to my iPhone. A couple of times a year I check breaker panel and system (and other outlets, fans, etc., throughout the house) for any hot spots which might indicate a problem.
