Found this guy lost and scared out of his wits when he must have been no more than a few weeks old near the backyard patio. I’ve seen the adult chipmunks and their hiding holes in the grass so I picked him up in my hand and put him there in the hopes he is one of theirs and will continue to be fed by the mom. From his tiny size I was pretty sure he was still dependent on mom’s milk.
Didn’t see him around for another few weeks until he suddenly appeared and looked in good health. I guess he really was reunited with his mom. Amazingly enough he was not in the least bit scared to be within an arms reach from me and was looking straight at me as if to say “hey thanks for saving me”!
I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee at that time and I decided to treat him to some seeds which he gladly accepted. It has become a daily ritual as long as the weather allows it and we often share the morning moments together, me sipping on coffee and “Chippy” enjoying his breakfast within an arms reach from me. Cute little guy.
