Well I picked up the Studer A810 MkII yesterday, un-crated & racked today.
Unit is #7979, one of the last 10 made. It originated from a retired CBS exec & has low Canadian hours. It has undergone a Studer restoration. The previous owner assures me a good 10yrs trouble free....Fingers crossed, but of course there's no getting away from the fact that this sophisticated piece of Swiss engineering is a relic.
I have switched the power selection to 240v but have yet to run power through it. I will do that this evening. If all is good, it will get its 1st play by the weekend. More expensive interconnects required...
Visually & cosmetically, I rate the unit conservatively 9/10, but out of the crate, I am comfortable to give it a 9.5/10. What a great survivor, truly a museum piece. The unit looks brand new!
I have the option to purchase a brand new 4 speed upgrade kit which will push it up to 30ips.
