I know this is a B&W topic so I'll have to be careful. In the past I mostly had sub's from so called sub only brand because their sole focus is on designing subs and not just a speaker company that adds a sub to each range to offer a nice all-same-brand package. I'm not saying this is the case here but I've wanted to keep my options open when I'd decide to change speakers in the future. I know I could have used the B&W subs with other speaker brands. So my choice is not so much about the potential quality of the new DB subs but more a rational choice (at least in my view
