Sandeman 10yr Port
Dinner at the Red Room in Ventnor last night was excellent. House-made pasta and bread. We all agreed that both were the equal of anything we've had in the southern half of NJ. Equal to the good food & service were the wine & port (we prefer BYOB). A most excellent Saint-Émilion and southern Côte du Rhône as well as a 'good' Haut Medoc and very average Medoc. Aw, well.......... we got what we paid for. To top the evening we had a 10yr old Sandeman port. Was 500ml bottle and we did it some damage. We will be gathering for New Year's eve and have agreed that we'll step up to a 20yr or 30yr bottle of same and maybe cut back bit on the champagne for that meal (rib roast & lobstor).
