Window Treatment?

In my listening room, the wall behind me has four 35”x70” windows. There are no other windows in the room, and I don't care if I have to cover them all. BTW, I don't like drapes.

I am debating the following options:

OP1 - cover the whole wall with Ikea Kallax shelves (I already had the two side walls completely covered with Kallax, and I still need more shelves);

OP2 - cover the 4 windows with GIK acoustic panels, custom sizes;

OP3 - wood shutters;

OP4 - leave the current plastic blinds there, no change.

The first 3 options cost almost the same: ~$1K.

How do you deal with your windows? Any suggestions?

I ended up using 2”" deep pleated shades. I don’t have any data but they seem for be pretty good high frequency absorbers. I like to open the shades during the day so fixed panels were out of the question.

Saphana - If drapes aren’t an option, then I suppose my choice would be option no. 2. I would figure that covering all that glass with GIK panels would probably be the best option from a sound standpoint. I also like Tom’s idea of the pleated shades. I would think those may possibly look the best and may be more functional as well. There aren’t any nice heavy weight drapes that you care for.....like something from Restoration Hardware? That would seem to give you the best of both worlds.

Thank you W9TR. Pleated shades... never thought about them but seems to be a good option!

Buck, I went to RH’s website and found several draperies which should look very good in my room and as you said “give me the best of both worlds”. I should not have started this thread. Now one more option to worry about...

Not that I'm an interior decorator :D, but have you got any pictures of the room you're talking about?

Gotcha. I was picturing windows a little bigger for some reason. Maybe the GIK panels would look pretty good there. That being said, I still would like the look of drapes on that wall. Either way, you’ve got some good options. One thing I would stay away from would be the wood shutters (unless you were covering them with drapery). Too much of a hard reflective surface.
