At current used prices, how is the Mini II?

At the current used prices, how is the Mini II as a buy? Good buy or old news? Always read good stuff about them and would like to see what they're about.

No opinions at all?

Seeing that the Mini2 was all the rage not more than 3 years ago, I figured that there's gotta be a lot of fire behind this guy. Wont be able to hear them in showrooms so if you want to hear, you gotta pay first and buy a pair.

Even if its not the current king of the monitor hill, it's gotta still be one of the all time greats and classics right?

Hi Joey,

The Mini II are great speakers, the way they vanish from the soundstage is fabulous.

With the Mini II it is the same as with the V3's, after the introduction of Q1, Q3/S3 both became "Old news" quickly
I have listened a lot to these newer types, but I still kept the V3's, although ultimately the newer models are better, I like that the old tweeter never gets in the way.
(very coherent music reproduction, IMO)

If you can get a good deal on the Mini II's go for it, you won't regret it.

Hi Joey,
How big is the room and what amps you planning to drive them with?
Used to play the Mini2 for 3years some 7-8 years ago. If your room is small/medium sized and have capable amp/s driving them, as imprezap said--get it, still great speakers by today's standard imo. Traded in my Strads for them, and later on to V3s. Loved the sound but found it insufficient to properly drive/pressurise my 15' x 36' x 9' room which the V3s managed better.
*Will try dig pics of that old Mini2 set-up.

I've owned the Mini II for four years. Fantastic, even by today's standards. And used for $10K or so, I don't think you can do better. They are also fantastic looking, IMO, and will retain their value as classics at that price for quite a while.

You can read more about my system and room on WBF or Audiogon. Here are some links: My system link on WBF: http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showth...-Sublime-Sound
My system link on Audiogon: http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr...&4&5#Peterayer.

There are also some photos on the Magico Owner's Circle forum on WBF. If you can find a good used pair, I'd do it. The Q1 is better, but considerably more expensive, and a totally different look.

You need lots of good clean power to drive them, and they are so transparent that the rest of the system has to be up to a good standard.

I may have a pair of Mac 1201 coming in.

The mini will be for the living room. My wife keeps complaining that the good system will be in the media upstairs and nothing in the family room. Space is probably 24x17 but I won't be super critical listening. Another option is to put the mini 2 in the gameroom, looking at 16x14.

The stereo room is 17x14.5. But I will have different speakers there.

Are you EBM? I saw your system on wbf and it looked great man. I remember you even matched your rack to it.

Your links don't work however.
