Some find the overall Lamm sound as slightly 'dark'; and by contrast with certain amps there is that relative difference. For myself I don't think of them as dark but as offering a tonal depth that delivers realistic fundamentals and overtones. To my ears, the opposite of their character is not 'light' but lean.

What speakers do you have?

I've not heard the MS4s, but from their specs (3.6Ohm minimum, 88dB sensitivity) the M1.2s should drive them fine. With dedicated circuits in hand you've already won most of the battle. The Stillpoints will make more of an improvement than power cords at comparable cost and actually will help you better assess power cord differences. Wrt tubes, see this thread in the AA Lamm forum.
