Gaining Momentum
After nearly 3 months of waiting, the new D’Agostino Momentum S250 stereo amp finally arrived at the dealer in Seattle last week. Since I wasn’t available to take delivery right away, they set it up in a showroom and ran it to get a head start on burnin. Yesterday my dealer made the 2 hour drive to my house to deliver and set up. I had been wondering how we were going to get a 100 lb amp into my rack, but I failed to realize that Hans pumps iron - he lifted it right out of the case and slid it into the rack no problem.
It was definitely worth the wait. The amp looks gorgeous, and sounded wonderful with only a few minutes of warmup. Compared to my Linn amp, the bass is much tighter and more authoritative and solid, the highs are much smoother, imaging is a bit more precise, and the slight congestion I used to get on orchestral music at louder volumes is gone. Although technically I have this beauty on trial for a few days, I’ve already made up my mind it’s not going back. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-25bPbmb-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-jqQLgnr-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-jGvQ5mg-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-6MTBSj2-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-8Gw788s-L.jpg |
Congratulations. Dan's gear competes with the best available in both SQ and industrial design.

Congrats Tony!!! Gorgeous amp and a stellar performer.
I still remember the excitement the day I got my Momentum monos. It was hard to break away from listening. The best is yet come as you rediscover your music all over again. Enjoy! Well done. |
Congratulations with a great amplifier, it also looks good :)

Tony.......I like the black and copper combination much better than the silver and copper. The S250 looks super in your rack. Congratulations and a fine amplifier.

Congrats Tony, I KNEW that thing wouldn't be going back. They are too damn good.
Now I don't feel too bad when I make the same guys drive over an hour to my house :) |
Congratulations on your new amplifier. I'm sure you will listen to every recording again to discover new details never heard before.

You shouldn’t, not for the prices we pay for gear[emoji41] It was a long day for Hans, and he probably got stuck in traffic on the way home, but he did a great job, spent a couple of hours getting me set up, listening with me and playing around with footers. |
Tony
Huge congrats to you on your soon to be new amp! No doubt in my mind Dan makes the finest looking gear out there. It also helps that you like the sound! I hope you enjoy it to the fullest extent. |
Thanks guys. My wife is out for the evening and I’m settled in with an eggnog (Knob Creek) and it’s quite blissful. I really didn’t expect this big a difference, but there it is.

Congrats on the new amp. I recently had the same dealer set up three M400s and S250 in my theater room. Same black and copper combo. Great amps and great dealer
