Comcast

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I'm experiencing some noise coming through the speakers when the Comcast box is plugged into the HDMI input on the Oppo blu ray player. I need to double check the grounding on the service entrance for the cable line, but I also suspect that the cable box itself is just a noisy source. Actually, now that I remember it, I think the hum remained even if I disconnected the cable input on the Comcast box. Has anyone else had this issue?

Apologies if the topic is covered somewhere in another thread.

Thanks,
Howard

Howard.......Many cable and satellite noise issues have been solved with this device.

Howard,
Does the hum vary with volume? Or is it there all the time, at a low level?
If you pull the cable feed to the Comcast box and you've still got hum, try putting a common mode choke on the HDMI cable.

Thanks for the suggestions, let me investigate them and I'll let you know the results. Thanks again!

The hum doesn't vary with volume, it's there all the time at a low level. I'll give both this and the isolator a try. Thanks!

I had the same problem with Comcast and it was related to different grounds on the cable feed vs. the house electrical, amounting to several volts. I "fixed" it by going to DirectTV satellite. Better resolution, better programming, less expensive. What's not to like?

I'll be picking up one of those pronto. I had always assumed there was no way around the issue.

Thanks for the tip Dan.
