Musical Affairs Crescendro - kev313
 

I noticed that you have used Musical Affairs Crescendo speakers with your Shindo set up. In your set up, how did they fair against the Altecs you have used in the past. I am currently utilizing Auditorium 23 Roiene speakers with an 8" driver but am considering some thing a bit more substantial. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I think Kev313 has Shindo 604's. Perhaps he has the Musical Affairs as well.

FWIW I have a pair of Musical Affairs Grand Crescendo speakers (Crescendo's 30cm big brother), with PHY drivers, that I have used with my Shindo Montille and CC34 amps, and also Thoress 300B monos. To my ears the speakers are wonderful and have matched well with each amp. Imaging is superb.I have owned them for over three years now and have no desire to change or 'upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. Did you have difficulty with speaker placement to yield a good soundstage or bass extension?

Hi Simon,

I had no problems with speaker placement as Hans Kortenbach (Musical Affairs designer/builder) supplied detailed guidance for speaker placement, for both Crescendo and Grand Crescendo models. He will also supply an Excel model into which you can presumably input your own room's dimensions; however I haven't got a copy (memo to me: contact him to get it!).

My speakers are toed in, placed a defined distance from both the side and back walls, and tilted back slightly to allow for ear height in the listening chair.
