PSAudio Direcstream Memory Player Discontinued?
 

I noticed on the PSAudio website that the the Memory Player is unavailable. Additionally, I was told by someone they called PSAudio to order one and PSAudio said they were discontinued. I assume some dealers have them in stock, but it looks like the end of the line for the Direcstream Memory Player.

I know they’re B/O till next spring due to parts shortages but not they were being discontinued yet.

Paul has intimated they would do a player next that did not do SACD but that was down the road.

Yes, I heard it was discontinued and will be replaced by a strictly Redbook player. I believe they used Oppo drives.

Indeed it does use the oppo drive. I love mine. Magnificent combo DMP/DS

Was on sale for a special US$ 4k for a little while, and soon there will be no more available. There is gonna be a redbook CD player indeed at some point, plus the Octave server I suspect around 3rd quarter of 2019.

Paul McGowan indicated in an e-mail that although there is no more Oppo Drive they will be releasing a new one in April 2019, (New Player)

I’m waiting on the no holds barred DAC from Ted.

I don’t own the PS audio DAC.

Reading about the consistent software upgrades causes me to ponder what exactly happens between each upgrade that makes Ted and Paul feel ‘this is better’? What is it they are learning about programming the DAC?

Don’t know, but it sounds better each time. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, but each one is an upgrade. Count me a satisfied customer.

I will post about their new product(s) as soon as I am given the green light to do so. :ok:
