Well now we’re getting somewhere.

Looking forward to your review of them after you’ve run them in for a bit.

djwhog 04-12-2018 03:36 PM

Cant wait for your review, sure would love to audition these :)

Really thinking once I sell my house and move I may like to get a set.. should work great with my F212..

jmw31 04-12-2018 08:37 PM

Great looking speaker.

Masterlu 04-12-2018 08:59 PM

At 300 lbs each, I will need to hire a few weightlifting champs to get them up my flight of stairs. :)

rnrmf1971 04-12-2018 09:04 PM

That's a speaker I could live with.

Beautiful!

For The Love of Music 04-12-2018 11:31 PM

They do look good!

Stunning image and specifications...
And finished is top notch !!!

Masterlu 04-13-2018 06:42 AM

Each pair of Ref K1’s are completely made to order in house in Germany.

Lead time is appropriately 8 weeks.

mchydro 04-13-2018 06:53 PM

Those are gorgeous speakers. They look like total beasts too.

Is that timing also true for the K3 and K5?

Yes, that is the norm.

FreddieFerric 04-13-2018 11:05 PM

Hi Ivan. The back of the 1K presents an interesting picture. Aside from the obvious binding posts, could you please comment on the other features this speaker presents. I.E. does the speaker offer some user adjustable options? I'm curious about that since Canton doesn't provide much in the way of literature.

Scyld 04-14-2018 04:22 PM

One can adjust the midrange or the tweeter +- 1.5 Db.
These detailes can be found in the user manual (page 28-29), which even includes frequency response curve.
It shows that the midrange adjustment falls into 100-300 Hz range, which is quite low, but makes sense in terms of room acoustics influence.

Hi Masterlu.
What on earth is wrong with people? Let me explain. I went to Axpona this past week and people where all over that hotel enjoying that speaker and this speaker, the Gryphon speakers and Magico speakers. I must admit, I love Canton and know what they can do. So my only purpose for going was to hear the Canton Reference they had at the show. Only they sounded horrible!

So I go in, and its just me and the guy in the room. So I asked him, are you part of the USA distribution team? He says yes. I ask him why does Canton have a hard time in the USA? He said he doesn't know but they do very well in Europe. I asked so why did Canton pick Esoteric to show with? He said I don't know, I don't work for Canton....it was Esoteric who decided to show with Canton. I said oh. I then went on to ask, why does it sound so horrible? He got angry at that point so I left the room.

But MasterLu! The sound was horrible and no one enjoyed the sound. That's why it was so empty.

Why Cant we ever see Canton in the same light as Magico and Gryphon and the other high end speakers? I know what Canton can do if properly set up.

jdandy 04-18-2018 10:22 PM

slippers-on.......You sure know how to sweet talk dealer reps. :lmao:

Masterlu 04-19-2018 12:04 AM

I have no idea how you can set up Canton’s badly. :dunno:

I’ll admit, the rooms are not the ideal setup or listening environment, but I’m not sure where that comment is coming from. The Canton most certainly did not sound horrible; the music played in many rooms might be horrible, but not the Cantons!

I think it must have been the room. If any one knows me, they know I love Cantons.

Ivan,

If you’d like, have the factory send a pair to my house for evaluation. I’ll break them in (a year to 18 months should do), then invite Dan over so he can write a review in the style and detail only Dan can do. What do you say? :D

I guaranty that, not only is my room better than a hotel room at Axpona, I’ll play better material!
