Men 220?

Tom..... I believe I already have Ron C's notes on Room Perfect stored away, but something in the procedure you posted to this MX 151 thread really caught my attention, and that's the reference to the Mac MEN 220.

Bearing in mind that I've never heard of this unit before, please go easy on me...but, given the context, my guess is that it's Room Perfect in a box. Furthermore, I'm guessing that the Mac MX 150 didn't come with Room Perfect built in, so the combination of the MX 150 and the MEN 220 = the MX 151. Please pardon the pun, but does that sound about right? :scratch2:

The MX150 also has room perfect.

That’s exactly what the MEN 220 is - Room Perfect in a Box! Nailed it. :)

... but it's not multi channel. There should be lots of information on the MEN220 on the archives of this forum. Dan had a major issue with his back when they first came out.

Dan’s issue caused a running change by McIntosh that eliminated the issue.

There is a thread somewhere that provides how to identify if your unit was made after the fix by checking its serial number.

Nice, Tom! Even a busted clock is right twice a day, right? :D

So, if the MX 150 came with Room Perfect and the MEN 220 is Room Perfect in a box, what changes were made to justify the MX 151? :scratch2:

The MX150 had buggy firmware that required an update to fix. The MX151 is essentially an MX150 with the updated software. Therefore, an MX150 with the latest update is an MX151, it just does not say it in green on the front of the unit.

^^^ Exactly ^^^ plus I believe there were some minor differences in the front glass plate between the two units.

Thanks Joe and Michael. As usual, the folks on the AAF are very helpful.
