New speakers ?????

Hello all,

I'm currently using Guarneri's (2nd gen) in my system with MC601's.

Really like the sound, just wish it had more bottom end.

Would moving to Amati Futura's be a step up the food chain or would I lose some of the sweetness I've grown to love in the Guarneri's?

The other solution would be to add a few subs to the system to pick up some of that bottom end.

Any opinions/comments?

I would suggest listening to the Amati Futura, but subs with a crossover would be even deeper and tighter. I would be hesitant to give up a sound you love for one that might be different and not necessarily better to your own ears.

I run Amati Futuras without a sub and find the bass extension to be excellent. No need for a sub.

I agree with Lars - you should listen to Futuras.

Adding a sub to stand mounted speakers and getting good mid-bass out of the combo is not a trivial task. It takes an external time aligned crossover and careful sub placement to make it work correctly.

What he said[emoji41]. I also run Futuras with no sub, and don’t feel the need for one. Before them I had Cremona Auditors with sub, and bass integration was a challenge. However the Amati sound is a bit different from the Guarneri, you should definitely hear them first.

While I presently own the Futura, if it were me, I would be hesitant to change speakers if you like the sound of what you have now without extensive audition of the Futura. Of course if that is not possible, then there is always a chance that you wouldn’t like the change despite extension in the bottom end.
