Wilson VS Magico v3-Q3
 

Here I am sitting listening to my Sashas and reviewing reviews/treads about V3-Q3 speakers and how same will out perform my beloved Sashas. Mine developed with X or S material and Magico with aluminum and phenolic resin. I read so many reviews on the Sashas and chose same over the Magicos. I remember a time when WP8s were compared to 800Ds and Sophias were compared to 802Ds. Today It seams that its Wilson VS Magico on all fronts. What are your thoughts?.......Thanks.

The self-appointed audio cognoscenti are always yapping about the latest great thing. Last year's state of the art is this year's junk. What do your ears tell you about how your Sasha's sound? Is anything not to your liking? At that level, it is more personal taste than right and wrong. So if what you have is making you happy, do not let the current "buzz" sway you into thinking your gear is insufficient. On the other hand, if you have the money and the curiosity, why not experiment? Just make sure it is a choice to have fun and not a fear of missing out.

I auditioned the Q3's with a group of guys and we all walked away puzzeled as to why the buzz. They sounded rather flat with the sealed enclosure. I have Sasha's and walked away covinced I wouldn't change for Q3's. Go audition and let your ears deside.

My thoughts on your dilemma: If your Sashas are "beloved," then don't even make it a question. It's about your likes, not theirs. :)

I think both companies make excellent speakers, and it's a matter of personal taste, including aesthetics. Some people find the Wilsons horribly ugly...I didn't used to think much of them, myself. However, after a number of years, I've transitioned from (my wife's words) "they look like garbage cans" to seeing them as beautiful industrial art. On the looks front, I don't warm up to the Magicos, at all...but I'm now biased, obviously. If someone wrote that he thought they were beautiful, would I care? Absolutely not...I'll keep my opinion, and he can have his. It's no different from a sonic standpoint. To be honest, I don't subscribe to any of the magazines...it's just too easy to get caught up in wanting new gear. When I have the desire to make a change, then I go out and seek opinions/reviews on products that I think might be a good fit. In the end, I'm only interested in finding a product that works for me from a sonic/visual perspective. Once I have it, then I focus on finding music to listen to because, ultimately, that's what's important, to me.

I agree completely. Having auditioned the Q3s, among others, I believe Magico builds excellent speakers with an amazing level of transparency and clarity, but I would take the Sashas any day. And look at all the money you save!

If you're going to "move up", and I agree that it becomes subjective at some point, consider Rockport or Sonus Faber. Or stay within the Wilson family.

I am not a huge Wilson fan although I did not have the chance to audition the Sasha and the Sophia 3, but I will take any pair of Wilson's against any Magico's.
So I'm not sure about the "left behind statement".
I would not swear that Magico will still be here in 20 years. I would do that when it comes to Wilson.

With the introduction of the Sophia 3, Sasha and Maxx 3 as well as a new line of center channels, I would assume they are revamping their line up. So many colors to choose to suit ones taste. I was a B@W fan for several years from 804n to 803s then to the 802d with the first generation craze of the diamond tweeter. After some issues with 2 tweeters and a woofer I retired the 802d in search of something else. With so many options with a 50k budget, i narrowed my selection to the Wilsons, JM Lab and Magico. I was sold on the Sashas from first sight/sound and the strong following of the watt puppy. Sasha has won so many awards and praise it was hard not to assume I had made the right choice for ME. If you contact them you are greeted with Pam and a dedicated team to serve you. I had none of that when I had issues with my B@W speakers. In respect to the 20 year old tweeter. I love the sound it makes and am very happy with my upgrade.

I heard Wilson Sophias for the first time last Friday. wish i hadn't......

It is a sound I want. I am new to this high end stuff, but I finally think I understand what you all are chasing.
