The Girl In The Spider's Web

It is possible that those who have not had the opportunity to see the original Swedish "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy might enjoy this film. As a stand alone action movie it might be okay. Both my wife and I had been looking forward to this release and came away disappointed. I am not sure why they think they can't get a large enough audience unless they make it high tech and with end to end action. This was not how the original books were written and it was not how the original Millennium series was filmed. Even the "English" version with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara didn't seem to require the viewer to leave their brain at the door.

For those of you who don't know some of the back story the original author died after writing the initial trilogy and before they became global best sellers. There was a lot of fighting surrounding his estate and after the success of the Millennium Trilogy additional books were authorized and the one this movie was based on wasn't too bad. Unfortunately when taking that from book form to the big screen they decided to make some of the characters much younger and make it an action movie rather than film noir.

Hhmm... I had high hopes for this movie.

Keeley Hawes looks like a terrible Lisbeth Salander. (I much prefer the original Noomi Rapace over Rooney Mara.) One viewer said she looks like a "scared cat" throughout!

Who is Keeley Hawes?

In the latest version Claire Foy plays the part.

One kind of funny scene in the movie is when she needs to swap vehicles and steal a different car. She is escaping with about a 12 year old boy. She uses a device to unlock a slew of vehicles in a parking garage. The young boy with her uses his eyes to suggest they go with the Lamborghini.

Noomi Rapace for sure.I thought she was prefect for the role.

Dragon Tattoo

Recall the song being played when Daniel Craig was captured? There is a good back story about how it was chosen.

The book, Spiders Web, is a fun read -

You're right. I've seen Keeley in three shows lately--guess I had her on the brain! (Bodyguard, The Durrells in Corfu, and Line of Duty.)

So, let me rephrase that: Claire Foy looks awful as Lisbeth Salander!

Seems like it’s a skip then. I liked Rooney Mara in the role. Something about Noomi Rapace I can’t get in to. I didn’t really care for her in Prometheus either.
