Soulution 721 + 710

The Soulution combo arrived this evening and is making sweet music already. Apparently 50 hours or so run in is needed which is not much.

Here are the photos;

Howie
Wow, those look really great. I am looking forward to your comments as they break in.

Howie...they are looking wonderful. The whole setup is just first class. I am sure the Soulution/SF combo is going to be something special. Let us know how it comes together. By the way, what is that little black box next to theSoulution pre? Is that the power supply/speed controller for the AVID?

Yup. This is the small size for the Acutus Standard version. The Reference version is a whole lot bigger and heavier.

Howie,

Absolutely beautiful!!!

What is the small silver "box" on the floor? Power Conditioner?

gtubes 03-17-2011 01:55 PM

WOWWWWWWW, look forward to your thoughts post burn in!

Jerome W 03-17-2011 03:21 PM

Congrats Howie !! Enjoy it in good health !
Everything looks stunning !
When I hear what a small swiss product like the Logitech Squeezebox is able to do ( and especially how it sounds through the MDA) , I just can't imagine how this Soulution combo sounds :D !

TommyC 03-17-2011 04:24 PM

Woah, that was fast. Beautiful set-up. Did you get goosebumps listening to this incredible set-up?

Isotek Titan. Conditioner specifically for power amps although I need to see if it is beneficial or not later on

Bro,

Simply Gorgeous ... Now give it a good listen!! Time to sit back, relax, have a cuppa and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Hope this is the final setup ... at least for the next 2 years on!

I am sure, given the permission, I can drop by to admire.

Cheers!

No kidding. It's funny you wait 8 months for an amp and then when you need a cable for it you need it NOW!. Even 5 minutes to sort out payment seems too long!:D

What cables are you using?

JSCC 03-18-2011 03:59 AM

Pssst Howie Bro,

Think you need to look the word symmetrical. Seems like ONE Soulution Power Amp is a little "lonely".

Maybe you need to get one more - Mono to balance the picture! :D

Spend! Spend! Spend!

Seriously, a very nice setup friend. And thanks for the invite. See you in June ... ticket bought already. Be there from June 9 thru 12 with family. Bring me to buy obscure Chinese Opera CD's (Yum Kim Fai, etc, ...).

Cheers!

Ha Ha! Isn't that the truth. :D

Howie your setup is looking outstanding! I join all the other congratulations. I also await your comments on it's sonic character. Shaping up for a fun period for you. Happy listening! :music:

I am using a real mixture. Soulution preamp has a Siltech Ruby Hill II pc and is connected to the power amp with a borrowed synergistic research balanced cables. I also have a pair of diy Oyaide balanced cables with Furutech rhodium XLR connectors. Meridian has same siltech pc and is connected to preamp with Crystal Cable reference rca. Audio Research has a Crystal Cable reference pc and connects with preamp with Argento Serenity balanced cables. Avid has a Crystal Cable Piccolo pc and power amp has a XLO LE 10 Mk II pc.

Oh forgot speakers which use Yter or Argento Serenity. Right now Yter is being used.

A slight re-arrangement of the gear on the rack.

It went the way of the dodo. It was a very nice set but with the Sooloos I decided to get the matching meridian 808.3 so that I could make use of the ID40 card. Digital is now 99.9999% sooloos sourced

Good for you! Enjoy..

Tonepub 03-19-2011 04:16 PM

I'm with you Howie, even though CD's sound better through my dCS via transport, the Sooloos is so painless, that's the way i listen to music most of the time!

The other problem would be censoring (and selling off those CD's that are deem "not collectables"). So, a proper backup (plus another backup) would ensure longevity of files availability! :D

I am a firm believer in this since I found out the hard way in the loss of some 550 CD's files in my first Twinstore "wrong HDDs" being used. :tears:

Now would the ease and painless way to enjoy music rendered the same "once in a while" playback of Vinyl, thats something I would not want to discuss cause I had just spent a lot on a new TT just barely a quarter back. :smoking:

Cheers!

howiebrou 03-20-2011 04:37 AM

Thought I would take a few quick snaps of my system today.

Ivan, perhaps you might like to create a sticky for pictures of all brands of gear as a complete category. It would be nice to see how people's systems evolve.

Nice pics. I like the b/w touch. Also was going through the thread show us your system. Just saw yours there and now these. It's interesting to see the differences over the years as peoples systems change.

Great photos.

Did you take those with the new Nikon D3S you said you were going to order?
