This is Esoteric's brand new Integrated Amps, the F-03A and the F-05.

While different in their amp output stage design, these two beautiful new products share several things in common;

· A full balanced preamp section, borrowed from the Grandioso Series C1

· Amplifier modules borrowed from the Grandioso Series S1.

· Large Bipolar(LAPT) Transistors

· Dual Mono Design throughout; even within the MM/MC Phono Preamp

· 3 Stage Darlington Circuitry with 3 Parallel Push-Pull Circuits with Esoteric’s proprietary LIDSC (Low Impedance Drive Stage Coupling)

Just to name a few of the features of these two new great pieces from Esoteric! The attached PDF for these exciting new products is attached to fill you in on the finer details :ohya:

The F-03A is shipping now and the F-05 should be shipping towards the middle of the month :gimmesmiley:

Ivan.......These are two beautiful integrated amplifiers. It should be noted the Esoteric F-03A is a Class A amplifier that delivers 30 w/p/c at 8 ohms and 60 w/p/c at 4 ohms. The Esoteric F-05 is a Class AB that delivers 120 w/p/c at 8 ohms and 240 w/p/c at 4 ohms.

My favorite, the F-03A.

Dan and others, do you think f-03a will be able to drive speakers like Sonus Faber Guarneri evolutions, or better to go with F -05.
Dan , why do you prefer F-03a?

myjazz123.......Into a 4 ohm load, such as the Guarneri Evolution the Esoteric F-03A can output 60 watts of Class A power per channel. Although the Evo's sensitivity of 86dB/1w/1m is not as efficient as any number of other speakers, 60 watts is still enough power to drive those speakers to a respectable volume with sufficient reserve power to ensure accurate dynamics. 15 watts output is enough power to have the Evo's singing at approximately 98dB measured at one meter. Sitting approximately 3 meters away from the speakers will typically reduce your volume about 6dB. This means that a comfortable 90 to 91dB volume level can be achieved with the Esoteric F-03A loafing along at 15 watts average output with momentary peaks reaching near 60 watts. So as long as you are not trying to achieve rock hall volume in a large room a 60 w/p/c amplifier will work perfectly well with the SF Guarneri Evolution.

My preference for the Esoteric F-03A is based on it being a Class A amplifier and I like the shutter that hides the secondary controls. I have never owned a Class A amplifier, that is if you don't count a couple headphone amplifiers. The new Esoteric F-03A intregues me for those reasons.

Dan, thanks for the informative opinion, make sense. Also I have read that even so it's the same transformers in both models, the winding wire for F03A is of better quality. But bass and headroom can be better with F-05A, since it ouputs more power.

That Class A amp can probably also serve as a room heater in the winter time!

myjazz123.......When I owned the SF Guarneri Memento speakers I wasn't worried about the speakers making bass. I used a pair of powered subwoofers and a Bryston 10B Sub active crossover. I took everything below 70Hz off the GM's and sent it to the McIntosh XS112 subs. That arrangement truly transformed the overall performance level from very good to outstanding. At that time I was powering the GM's with a pair of McIntosh MC275 in mono. Adding a pair of subwoofers and an active crossover to your Evo's will elevate your system's performance to an entirely new level.

E.......Probably true. Climate control would likely be essential.

Dan, is Hermine coming over the top of you? Hope everyone is ok. (Exceedingly off topic).
