Magico Q7: "most impressive product in 23 years of TAS reviews"

Cannot agree more on TAS review!! In particular on the chameleon nature of this speaker. You really need to listen to it with different sources to understand what an achievement the Q7 is.

It may be the cat's whiskers , but stating that the lamm 2.2 drove it well is hard to believe. I have posted in the Lamm forum on how on how un- involving a pairing the Q7 and the ML3 proved, and am sure it would be unlikely that an amp lower down the hierarchy would prove to be better performing .

...we have given the Q7 our Overall Product of the
Year award for 2012. This honor goes to the single most impressive product
we’ve encountered in the previous year. I’ll take that several steps further to
say the Q7 is the single most impressive product—in any category—that
I’ve come across in more than 23 years of full-time reviewing.
Even for
those of us who can never afford the Q7, it’s inspiring and gratifying to
know that the state of the art in loudspeaker technology has been moved
so far forward.
Honestly, for $185k a pair, I would expect nothing less then the best speaker I've ever heard... or in this case, may never hear :D

go to any big hifi show and you would be surprised by the number of 150-200k pair of speakers on show... and the number of them being not worth the money. Take the XLF for example: a pair of S5 at less than 30k sounds way better. And measures also way better.

Compare the Q7 to other speakers in the same price range, and you would be shocked how much they are revolutionary (I listened to nearly everything from major makers... the Q7 is in a category in its own)

They are a tour de force no doubt , would love to hear them hooked up to the Boulder 3050, Dartzeel NHB 458 or the Vitus Master-Piece monos .... sticker prices to match:cigar:

never heard them with Boulder (and you may not need so much power...). But they work very well with the big Dart and Vitus. Very very well. London dealer shows them with the Dartzeel

I'll take a closer listen next time.

I hope to hear the Q-7's at some point to see how they compare with the other contenders. As I have noted previously, I have heard Q5's, then Q1's at RMAF and recently Q3's at a local dealer and came away less than impressed as compared to other aluminum speakers (YG and Krell). Whether it was the set-up or associated gear I cannot say.

I just heard the Q7s with Spectral gear. Stunning.

The Q1 and the Q7 are remarkable speakers.

I also heard the Raidho C4.0, which was outstanding as well.
