Don't know why but I can't stop yawning.

Not everyone starts off with a 20k McIntosh turntable [emoji51]

I would love to see how this goes against a similarly priced ProJect.

Seems to me there are already a number of very good tables in this price range. I wonder what makes a table from a record company stand out when compared to tables already made by specialist TT manufacturers like Rega and Pro-Ject.

Tony.......Exactly. MoFi doesn't manufacture turntables, tonearms, or phono cartridges. It's all subcontracted with their logo silk screened everywhere they can get it. I can't blame them for wanting to tap into a fresh revenue stream. At this price point they may do fairly well. Time will tell.

If you check the interviews, you'll see the designers of the phono and turntables aren't exactly newbies in the game. That's why I'm kinda excited to see what they bring to the game.

In Australia at least it appears some of the indicative pricing looks pretty decent compared to other Made in US gear.

Derda: Allen Perkins from Spiral Groove is guiding the design of the turntables and cartridges. He’s one of the true innovators in the field and a true gentleman.
Tim DeParavicini was a natural fit for the project and is designing the phono stage. The engineers at the studio have a massive amount of respect for Tim and his involvement in our GAIN2 mastering system brings a real understanding of what MoFi is all about. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a fantastic circuit designer.

This should be very interesting to watch. If these components live up to the reputation of their designers, they could be giant killers. However designing to these price points is very difficult.

$1000 x 0.7 for retail margin x 0.8 for distribution and x 0.5 for mfg profit margin leaves $280 for material and labor. That's some tough sledding!

Yeah, from here it looks likes the low end of the market is saturated. Not sure how MFSL will set themselves apart.

DoggieH - do McIntosh 'tables really go for $20k?
