Emotiva Home Theater amps

Anyone ever try one, or compare, for HT?
They are cheap, but seem to get good reviews.

Spec's do not seem bad either.
Is a watt, a watt?
I would like to see a pro-review, on the Emotiva XPA amps.

Fit and finish, I know the answer.
You get, what you pay for. Which seems reasonable.

No thanks for the emotiva... my friend has a set... I wasn't impressed at all. I suppose you just get what you pay for though. I would recommend, if anything, finding something decent at the same price used.

What about the sound?
Did you happen to do a blind test?

Its hard to get 350 watts at 4 ohm's, into 5 channels, even used, at that price. = XPA-5= $800= Cheap looking (opinion)= ??sound, a lot of people say is great.

I have seen one upper end user state, that they (Amps) sound bright.
Others say you can't tell the difference in amps of similar stats (watts is a watt)

I was curious if anyone compared these, to a higher end AMP

I found it to be ridiculously bright, the dynamic range capabilities were really weak. he had to send it in three different times before he got one that worked. It's performance is at a level where I would rather just not watch movies at his house. I suppose their newest stuff is an improvement, but I would say that a Parasound or an NAD can offer a much more substantial bang for the buck, if for just a few more bucks.

For you to have Sonus Fabers and to even entertain the notion of Emotiva does not compute for me.

I have a few systems. The Sonus Faber speakers are driven by my 501's.
Plenty of power. (too much)

I also own Sierra -1 speaker hooked to my MA2275 which are cheap speakers, yet unbelievable sounding for the price.
So everything is not based on price.

I was hoping Emotiva xpa amps lived up to their claims!

I will mark you down, as a NO way!
