Sonus Faber Venere 1.5 Good Low Budget Option?
I am looking for a modest pair of bookshelf speakers for my work office. Sonus Faber has interested me for a while. Does anyone have any experience with the 1.5, or even 2.5 floorstanders. I’m looking for something more musical as opposed to going after every last bit of detail.

Hi Lars,
I'd consider the Elac UbiFi B5, or F5 as well. $389 a pair for the box speaker. Don't let the price be misleading; these were designed by Andrew Jones. |
I have heard that the Elac punch well above their weight class. I will have to consider them. Thanks for the suggestion.

Used Nola Boxer.

B&W 606 S6, $800 for a pair.

I'm going to have a pair of 2.0s being posted in the For Sale Forums in about a week, keep an eye out.

If you're going to have to buy electronics for this setup as well, I'd recommend considering the new powered ELAC Navis bookshelf speakers. Andrew Jones says by being able to use separate, tuned optimized amplifiers for each driver, he has not been able to obtain passive speaker performance with separate preamps and amps with that matches them for audio performance. $2000 a pair and will work with a DAC with a volume control. Sounds perfect for a small den/office setup. |
Sounds like I have lots of choices. I thought I had sworn off powered speakers, but I will give the ELAC a look. I am also curious about the Venere 2.0. One of life’s good decisions.

The venere 3.0 sounds pretty good.
