Magnum Dynalab - ST-2 FM Antenna

Well... I have been putting this off for a while. I have been using a Godar FM-1A indoor antenna for my FM for some time now, and really liked it. In the Cape I was able to get about half a dozen stations with excellent reception.

I bought the Magnum Dynalab - ST-2 FM Antenna some time ago; waiting for a fair weather day to put it up on the outside of my home.

Today was the day; with extension ladder, tool belt, and tools in hand, I was ready. I had previously run the cable from my rack to a storage closet where I was able to drill a hole just above the slab for the cable.

Running the cable behind a down spout was easy too. Now came the tough choice; do I just mount the antenna on my DirecTV pole (easy) or climb on to the steep roof. Then run the cable up the roof another 10' where it can then go straight up a corner another 8' or so to a nice peak with a "clear sky view"

l love a challange, so on to the roof I climbed. The roof was much steeper than it looked. Being too steep to walk, I had to use feet and hands, while sitting to work my way up the grade to where I wanted it to go. Once there things went fairly easy, with a bit of adrenaline going I was able to keep my balance, not roll off the roof, hold the antenna in place, and use my drill to mount it using three stainless steel screws.

Once in place, the cable was neatly tied and F connector terminated. The same cautious process was used in reverse to safely get to my ladder and down to solid ground.

The real test was about to take place. I swapped antenna connections on my MR88, and turned on the system.

I started by scanning, and was amazed; I picked up a high quality signal virtually every .2 mhz :yikes:

I am in Awe of how many FM stations I can now recieve. The Magnum Dynalab - ST-2 FM Antenna gets 5 Stars from me. As far as installation goes, call a handy man. ;)

I have that same antenna but sold my tuner a while back to help get my C2300. Some day I hope to have the MR88. But yes, very nice antenna.

I never used to care about running around on steep roofs. I'll go to the top of a 35 foot ladder, it doesn't bother me. There is nothing to hold onto on a roof.
Now I send my 20 year olds up there.

Glad you made it back down in one piece.
