B&W 800 D3 for TV & Movies?

Hi Folks. Are any of you using 800s in Stereo for TV and Movies besides music. How do they perform? Thanks

Not me.

I have used the CM10s2 for TV before and I didn’t like it. Low res material and bowers dont mix.

I found the best compromise was to use my Sonus Faber for tv.

The 800 series is awesome for movies, having owned the 803D, 802D and 800D plus HTM2D.

For movies I can see that as the data is high quality.

For TV, ehh.

In my opinion, given the detail and sheer accuracy of the 800d3, pairing it with a low quality signal like that of a TV is like listening to mp3s, there might be a lot to not like because of the unforgiving nature of the speakers.

I used my 800 D3s for everything. 2ch music, movies, video games daily. Love the speakers.

I use it for everything, as I watch TV less and less and more and more high quality sources throughout the Apple TV, I really like how it sounds.

I use my 802D3 full of joy even to 80% for movies. 2-channel-only.
Two changes in the system make me smile quite happily even on most movies.
One is the replacement of the Rotel RSP-1592 preamplifier connected via Audioquest Coffee HDMI with the Cambridge Audio Edge NQ, now connected via Audioquest Diamond USB. That brought me closer to the friendly side of the HighEnd.
And one of the things that brought me the most "ease" was the exchange from Audioquest Fire RCA to Audioquest WEL Signature XLR. Absolutely amazing and incomprehensibly fantastic, how absolutely light and self-evident and without any touching detail deep accents come out of the loudspeakers for movies or even series. And then there's the Audioquest Niagara 5000. It's almost as if the membrane surface of the 802D3 has been tripled every now and then. So I hardly switch on my subwoofer (DB2D) any more.

In fact, I have to admit that one thing is true, what you always say. Namely, the better the system, the worse the bad recordings do sound.
BUT! Going further in the real High End these not so good recordings begin to sound acceptable or even good again. Amazing.

I use my 800 D3 also for TV.
2ch PCM output of TV (24bit/48kHz) is connected to HiFi-System (digital room correction + DAC)

One Super Bowl Sunday I sent the audio through my 804s. It was really good. I feel the quality of the audio signal even over say FIOS has gotten much better.

I love mine paired with the matching HTM1 center channel!
