LS 36.5 tuberolling

I was set to sell my main system and downgrade a bit, and aquired a slightly used LS 36.5 preamp ahead of the sale.

The deal fell through and im stuck with two preamps now.

However, im quite impressed with the LS 36.5.
Its highly musical and I am really enjoying it.

Can anyone recommend some decent upgrades from the stock tubes?
I only have the preamp and not the separate power supply.

Thanks!

I have the LS 36.5 in my system right now and I've been very impressed with it also. There aren't many options for upgrading the stock 6H30 signal driver tubes. I ended up trying out the Electro-Harmonix gold pins which I found to be slightly warmer and better in my system than the stock Sovtek 6H30s. Not a huge difference between the two, but one that I ultimately prefer. There is an option to buy the NOS Reflektor 6H30s, but at a very high price if you can find them, which is getting more difficult all the time.

You will have much more luck finding options for the rectifier tube. Definitely worth upgrading that to a NOS Mullard 5AR4 or equivalent. There is a fat base Mullard 5AR4 out there that will give you some extra warmth and thickness in the bass, but ultimately it took my system too far in that direction so I didn't keep it.

Hope that helps...
