Wireworld Power Cords

I'm new to this forum and would like to know what components each power cord in Wireworld's line are best suited for. My system consists of all McIntosh modern solid state components and Focal Electra 1028Be II speakers. I also wondered if the Wireworld cords are a good choice for McIntosh equipment. Hopefully, Ivan or some of the experienced Wireworld users can give me some guidance. I don't want to break the bank on whatever power cords I end up choosing.

I use Wireworld eclipse interconnect and speaker cables along with Electra and Silver Electra power cords.

If budget permits I would go with silver all around.

Can you elaborate what sonic advantages the Silver Electra has over the plain Electra beyond the scientific theories presented by Wireworld? Have you compared both cords on McIntosh equipment?

Javis, a few years ago I purchased a WW Aurora PC to try over stock cables, I liked the sound so I purchased WW Electra PC's and liked the sound even more. I then purchased WW Silver Electra PC's in the 1 meter length, better even still. I then purchased WW Silver Electra PC's in the 2 meter length which was an even bigger improvement for me. I now use Acoustic Zen Krakatoa and Gargantuan II PC's which for me are my preferred PC's. I would suggest to purchase a used WW Silver Electra PC to give it a try. I find they sell very quickly if you want to try something else. When I switched to the Acoustic Zen PCs I sold about a dozen WW Silver Electra PCs in about a week - they are very popular. There are many excellent PCs out there and it is impossible to try them all. I like to listen with my own ears to see if I hear any improvement or not with cables. I gave 3 different PC's at different price points to a coworker and he couldn't hear any differences between any of them. He was using them on a HT system. Everyone hears differently. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input PMCH. I know all to well about the whole cable choice dilemma we all eventually go through. I've done it with my system's interconnects and speaker wires. I've been real skeptical about power cords and have been putting the search off for years. Still not sure I want to get pulled down the power cord path quite yet.

If you want to explore the benefits power cords bring, I would start out with an entry-level Shunyata, e.g. Venom 14 or HC. I have three WW power cords, including a Silver Electra, and in my experience, it is outperformed by the Shunyata Venom. The WW cords are good cords and bring an improvement, undoubtedly, but I find the Shunyatas to outperform them. I'm running a mix of different Shunyatas from Venom through to Zitron Cobra throughout my audio system, and using the WW cords for other applications like home theatre, the REL sub, etc.

Also, for AA Subscribers I can send you WW cables to try in your own system first. :ok:

I appreciate everyone's comments, but this is part of the reason why I've resisted jumping onto the power cord wagon for so long. Many claim that they've found the Shunyata Venom HC to be the best bang for the buck while others claim that the similarly priced Wireworld Electra 7 outperforms it. Others put more emphasis in plug design when making their buying decision. Audio Art Cables claims that their different plug options are the determining factor in their cord's ultimate sound qualities. If you look at plug design alone, one would think the WW Electra 7 to be better because of its silver clad copper alloy contacts vs. the Venom HC's nickel plated brass. So, as with everything else in audio, it's obvious that power cord selection is very subjective and somewhat component brand restrictive. If I decide to dive in deeper, my only choice is to take the time to actually try multiple cords in my system, probably starting with my power amp. It's too bad that Shunyata and Wireworld don't offer a satisfaction guarantee like Audio Art does. It would make it a lot easier for people like me to make a decision.
