Magico & room sizes

I have a local person selling his S5's and have been interested in hearing them. with my room being 14x16(with a 6 foot opening on the side to the rest of the house) are these speakers to large physically or sound wise to fit?

I have S3's is a 14x13 room with a 5' opening on the right side to the rest of the basement.

It took some effort to get them to work in the room, as initially the low frequency stuff was overloading the room even with my room treatments. Working with my dealer during the home audition, I was able to borrow more room treatments, and we spent a lot of time on placement. In the end, found a setup that worked GREAT. This consisted of ASC tube traps replacing the GIK monster traps behind the speakers and a placement setup with a slight toe-in and the speaker tilted 0.5 degrees up. Speakers are ~7.5ft apart, ~3ft off the back wall, and ~2.5ft off the side wall.

It was a battle, but the reward was worth it :).

Hope this helps,
Jimmy.

thanks, the S3 was more of what I was looking at to begin with. going bigger is always tempting though.
