Tonight, my dealer is bringing a unit to my place for me to audition. :D
All these years, I have been using a Purepower 2000. Even changed the Pb battery once recently. A few months back, I had this idea to separate the digital & analogue bits of my front end. Ordered a new 2 piece PP2000 but it's been many months but still mo joy. Production delays...etc. kept me from realising my idea. Last month, I bought a P5 on a whim. It did not work out. So now it is being used to power the motor drive of my TTs. In the meantime, my dealer is pushing this Accuphase to me. I look at the North American retail price & told him sorry no go. He told me that he can do a much better price so here we are. Hopefully things will work out. I will put my linestage, phono etc. onto this power conditioner. Stay tuned. Regards, Joe Ling |
Keep us posted Joe :ok:

I'd love to know how it compares to the PS Audio P5. I plan to try the P5 or P10 next year but I could see myself with a ps520 :D

And how it compares to the Burmester 948, which costs a lot less here than the Accuphase... |
As mentioned, I am had this flash of idea to separate the analogue & digital front end to be fed between 2 PLCs.
Put all the analogue line linestage, phono etc. on the P5. Well, I like it better when everything was plugged into the purepower. I did not realise this actually as my friends had just helped me adjust my speakers placement (tweaking) while I did the switch. I thought it was the speakers placement. Nearly tried to move the big & heavy speakers back to their previous position but thought that it would be easier to plug back the linestage to the purepower just to be sure. Lo & behold, discovered what was disturbing me. Anyway, the P5 is running the motors of my TTs for now. Maybe it's not burned in yet or maybe it's not warmed up (purepower is on 24/7 while P5 is switched off in between listening sessions). First impression of the Accuphase is that is has better bass than purepower but the treble region is a little rough. Still prefer the purepower for now but left the Accuphase on burn in for now. Will try again in a few days or tonight :scratch2:. Regards, Joe Ling |
Burmester is not quite readily available in my part of the woods (literally). For some reason, American, British & of course Japanese gear more popular here.

Please allow some more time as I never heard anything rough out of PS1220.
A local purePower dealer here use PS520 in his personal system. He said sound will be more relax after a month of use. I want to buy PS520 too , one day. Toga |
