New Cheviot

I've had the Cheviots for a couple of weeks now and absolutely love them. I've paired them with a PrimaLuna EVO300 integrated and the realism is amazing. Speakers just disappear with a huge soundstage. The midrange is sublime. Curious if anyone else owns or has heard these...

Congrats on the Tannoys.......they look cool too. I haven’t heard these but have liked every Tannoy I’ve heard.

Congratulations! I've heard them a couple of times and loved them. I agree with you - Tannoy has sublime midrange and soundstage. I currently own Canterbury's but in the process of making some system changes. Tannoy will definitely be a huge part of my new setup. I'm a fan. Enjoy your new Tannoy's!

Nice. What tubeset are you running in your EVO 300? Have you had enough time to compare UL & triode?
Am speaker shopping and the Cheviot fits right in my sweetspot at 91db (along with Klipsch Forte III & Cornwall IV and Devore's 0/93).

Also look at Fyne Audio speakers from a group of former Tannoy people. Also built in Scotland.

Just got the EVO so running with stock tubes and it's plenty of power in either mode. I mostly prefer UL because it's a bit more focused, but both have their advantages. Actually compared them to the Forte III in my home, but to me Klipsch just doesn't have the same realism.

Jack - I'm leery of any speaker I cannot listen to and Arlington, TX is a long way (their only outlet in the USA).

merkinman - am leaning towards either the Cheviot or Cornwall IV as they can both be placed near the front wall, which is a big + for me. Hopefully you'll give us another report in a month or two after your EVO has had time to break-in and you have had some time to listen. Thx.

Will do. If you like the Klipsch sound then I would think the Cornwalls would be the way to go. Just not my cup.

Not much closer but there is one in Sarasota and I suspect they will be adding others soon as they were in multiple rooms at the Florida show last weekend.

Jack - just another good reason to move to FL (I tell my wife, who resists). However, based on a quick perusal of their website I find their speakers "unattractive".

Yes...... Cornwall IV, Cheviot/Turnbury (a stretch to Kensington?) and 0/93 are 'in the mix'. Maybe Canton 8K, but they can't hug the front wall like the others.

merkinman - did you have the opportunity to audition any other Tannoy models?
