Sony KD-75XD940D known also as XBR-X940D

Anyone own or review this set? I really want to move to an 85 Sony, but the top features etc seem to be in the 75" and this is the top model I see.

Also looked at Samsung and LG and I am leaning towards the Sony. I currently have a Mitsubishi 73 DLP, and I can say that I have had many sets in the house next to that DLP and that DLP is pretty darn good, it was the top 840 series set and is sad that they stopped making sets. They had partnered with NEC and they should have moved forward into the NEC LED/LCD sets :(

But with time moving on now I think the new sets are into a new league of much better picture now.

Anyway I will go wall mount and then will have more space and build some sort of platform etc for my center channel.

Thanks guys/gals for the help on the Sony review

Dave... what I can tell you is that this has been a very popular selling model for me, and everyone has been very pleased. :)

Ivan I really like the XBR-85X850D for it's larger size, but wish it was the same screen technology as the75XD940D

I have 2 fears

1. I am thinking 75" although 2" more than my 73 may not satisfy the size I desire. Space is not an issue :)
2. If I were to go with the
XBR-85X850D may lack the top quality in picture. Although is better than my current set.

ugg why can we not have a
XBR-85X940D

I have the XBR-75X940D if that is the model number you mean. I have had it now for several months. I bought it from Ivan.

I understand the desire for the bigger screen, but this TV is the one for now for the full potential of 4K. It is full array backlit, HDR (high dynamic range), and capable of BT2020.

When I first bought it, I had it in the theater room in front of the projection screen so I could acquaint myself with all the settings. I took some time to work through the nuances. It stayed in the wrong room much longer than it should have because we were enjoying it so much. We finally now have it mounted in the living room where it was originally intended.

A good quality 4K Blu-ray is a site to behold on the Sony. I can highly recommend it. That being said, wait long enough and new ones will come along. I wouldn't give up the main features of this TV for a larger picture, and I wouldn't accept a larger picture that didn't also offer the features of this TV.

Thank you for your feedback. I really love the 75 but really wish it was 80"+. I do feel if I went withe the 85". I would lack some of the screen benefits of the 75, ugly maybe Sony will make a similar set in a larger size.. I hope

XBR-100Z9D Price not announced yet but I am sure it is way north on $10k

Dave... you are correct; MSRP will be $59,999

I think Sony is touting its new Backlight Master Drive. I also think north of $10,000 is generous on the price of the 100" inch TV.
