Just a word of caution; if this thread turns the least bit political, it will be closed.

Yes, no politics since this is shooting sports. What are your thoughts on AR-15 as a choice for home defense? Never considered it to be that. :scratch2:

Personally I think a Remington 870 being racked (schuck schuck) is the best for home defense. Unless the intruder is completely whacked on PCP, they're bolting back out the door or window. If not, the buckshot will be a plenty good "deterrent". :D

Now that's not saying my AR doesn't have a place in home defense. It's just that the 870 is the go-to for me.

This video is not about shooting sports BUT 1000% propaganda and politicized pro gun message :icon_thumbsdown::no:

The myth that the AR-15 is a "sporting" weapon is a giant "whopper" put forward by the gun manufacturers -- successfully.

Saying it over and over again does not make it true. Just ask Generals Patraeus and McChrsytal.

I am not going to argue what the definition of sporting is, it is different to everyone I guess. Many shooters don't hunt but enjoy punching holes in paper targets or participating in 3 gun competitions, etc... To me the AR15 is no different from any other semi automatic rifles out there... I just always thought that in the confines of a home, a rifle or a shotgun is a bit cumbersome and a handgun is much more nimble in tight quarters. :scratch2:

I suppose if you live in Iraq or Syria then it might be useful for home defense.

Never considered AR for home defense. What ammo. to avoid over penetration, I just have FMJ and M855 for paper punching.
