streetspirit 12-31-2017 09:52 PM

Thanks gents! It痴 a work in progress and a labor of love... Wouldn稚 be possible without the help of Ivan and Richard. Their knowledge of theatre design and installation is nothing short of amazing. I知 learning tons while we move through each stage! I知 super excited to see each transformation. It all started out as a basement room... then the next thing you know framing is done, electrical goes in and we put in the WireWorld silver series 7 speaker wire! That spool of silver was a beast, very hefty in weight... do it once and do it right! We will keep posting our progress.

Mitch

The next step will be Electrical inspection, then I will begin sound proofing.

Fun project! What will be the audio gear of choice in this one?

TAD CR-1 main speakers, JL Sub’s, mostly Mac electronics, and a Sony projector.

Excellent speakers and can't go wrong with Mac. :ok:

Currently I値l use what I have put together over the past several years: McIntosh electronics, TAD CR-1s, WireWorld cables...

The challenge is going with the theater setup I値l need a center channel. I知 not going to go for a single CR-1 as center. Perhaps down the line I can get a separate two channel setup but for now I値l be working with this which will still be outstanding.

Looking like a nice space so far. I was going to say, a basement in Austin is very rare! Looking forward to the end result. :)

piolaxo 01-02-2018 12:43 PM

Yes, having a basement opens up many possibilities. I'd love to have that chance.
Congrats Mitch, it is going to be a brilliant project and a fun ride.

Mitch... TAD doesn't have center speakers currently, but ELAC does have some fine lines, and the sound should not be too different from what TAD offers (also Andrew Jones being the designer).

https://www.elac.com/series/adante/

I heard the stand mounter and the floor stander. Unbeatable at the asking price.

Ivan, terrific work. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: :thumbsup:
