It's been 18-1/2 years since I put my last dog down. It's very difficult. It's largely for that reason I haven't gotten another.

I'm so sorry to read this! As mentioned before, their time with us is too short lived but the pain of their loss pales in comparison to the love we share(d). Since childhood, my dogs have made me a better person.
