Subs for Salon2

Revel discontinued the Rhythm 2, I would imagine because they didn't sell many at $10K? There are other fine options I'd consider. Discuss and advise!

JL Audio subs are always a very solid and popular choice. REL and Martin Logan BalancedForce subs would also be worthy of your consideration.

I am interested in how people who did it faired and what methods were used as much as I am with the subs they used. The trick will be integrating to a happy full range system that has good bass already. It will be some work, so I'm wondering how folks went about it. I have about 3200 CF, 16X21by 9.5 ft. I'm of mixed minds but interested enough to raise the topic. I like JL's pitch but, of course......I have ported speakers :) I note that Harman's subs for this line were sealed too tho'.

Bill, perhaps I was a bit cryptic in my first response, and apologies if so. I might just as well have asked if any body was using subs with their Salons.
I'm guessing there aren't many of us using subs with these? To be honest, I'm not sure I really need them but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Sorry that I couldn't provide the application specific advice you're seeking since I don't own Revel speakers.

Not to fret. I could have been more specific in my OP. I get the impression that there are not too many subs rolled out with these speakers especially when they are used just for two channel playback. We'll see if anybody else has input.

Its actually as much about the integration then the exact brand of subs in many instances.

Sorry, no subs with my Salon2s!

If properly integrated, subs can be a big improvement for these speakers I have a client with the Rhythm sub with them, and its a significant improvement. First of all, when you relieve the salon from attempting to do the deepest bass, the midrange improves and the distortion is lowered. The sub expands the dynamic range, resolution, as well as the extension, if properly integrated. If not done well, it can be a hot mess. It is extremely difficult to get any "full range" speaker to be linear and extended in the low frequencies. The spot you want to put the speaker for the best midrange, imaging and sound staging is not normally the same location where you will get the best bass extension and extension - hence a properly integrated sub is critical.

One needs to have a plan. Thinking about it, it looks hard to do right.
