Virtually No Cars Have Fender Flares Like This Anymore

As Andy Rooney used to say on 60 Minutes "have you ever noticed..."

For years now, virtually everything at any price or performance level has wheel openings that look like they were finished off by running them by a horizontal mill, often taking a wide cut. No make, model or price point seems to be immune. They are more ubiquitous than, gag me, black wheels.

The flares on the 427 Cobras and C6 GS and Zo6 are magnifique, wunderbar, glorious, to me. I miss them.

Yeah, one could argue that these have a milled edge, but it's miniscule in relation to the overall size of the flare.

with respect to the Cobra, the flares were not an original part of the 'AC' , rather added when Shelby and crew built out their monster.

I have a pair of those...

Between those and the smell of raw fuel and oil, there is no better car experience IMO. I've enjoyed my share of Porsches and Corvettes, but none of those can replicate this. I think those hips are awesome:D

Cheers!

Of course, this guy has a nice set of hips, but I never drove one:scratch2:

Yeah, the AC bodies on the 260-289 cars looked pretty wimpy in comparison when the 427s came out. I saw one at a McDonalds in the SF Bay Area when they first came out and thought it was great until the 427 showed up. The 427s are beautiful in my opinion, but the Cobras all look goofy with the top up.

Cool !! Looks great! I don't see any 'Corvette orange peel' in that wonderful red. Very nice.
I saved your pic in 2 folders: 'Cobras & Replicas' and, since I like the idea of gold wheels, 'Gold Wheels'
