Can't go anywhere in this "time of coronavirus", so am loading the last of my 500 cases (38-55WCF) for the season. Once finished with that I'll cast another 1000 bullets and then get started on prepping and loading the 25-20 for levergun pistol caliber silhouette.

When I can't take any more loading/casting (doesn't take too long to get very boring) I'll do a bit more sanding on the wood for one of my rifles. Once down to a smooth 320 grit it will get a few coats of Watco teak finishing oil.

Pretty sure that's why Verdi wrote "Tosca" and other operatic works. Long enough that one can listen to the entire work while still getting a short break to flip the LP to the next side. Keeps one from getting "loading madness". ;)

I used to shoot High Power, M1A Super Match and a M1 Garand, also had a Bench rest gun made by John Pierce chambered in 6 ppc, never did compete but have had a blast shooting on hole 5 shot groups at 100 and 200 yards that the gun was made for.

My local club shoots lots of CMP matches (most any wood military rifle plus a few EIC matches) each year. Think I counted 20 for the 2021 season.

Wish we had a 200yd/m range. With only one bench at 200yd on our 600yd range not much chance to shoot benchrest. I find 100yd to be pretty boring. A club a couple of hours away shoots two different 200yd 22LR benchrest matches I hope to get to this season. Only had one match in 2020 due to the virus. Hoping for better things this season.

New CPA Steven 44 1/2 build underway. Just received pic's of the completed engraving by Rachel Wells. Engraved receiver back to Gail at CPA where she will fit a 26" stainless Bartlein barrel with 5R rifling and put on some nicely figured maple wood. Once that work is complete the action will go out for bone-charcoal case-color. Hope to be shooting it some time the summer of 2022.

I look forward to seeing photos of your rifle once it's complete.

Thanks. Will be several months.

Is "casting season" for us black powder competitors. Based on the matches I hope to shoot this season I'll need about 2500 bullets. Here is 100 +5 for good measure (usually get about a 95% yield). Have cast 900 thus far, so about 1600 more to prepare for the season.

Very classy engraving. Adds value also!

Thanks. I've used four different engravers over the years and always give them very little direction. On this one I ask for a centered fleur-de-lis and a border. Give them a budget and ask them to use their artistic talent to do whatever else they want within said budget. Have always been very pleased with the results and think they all like to do the work with little restriction.

Two of my previous engraved actions are in posts #25, #28 & #33.
