The SilenZio is the finest example of what a true media server can accomplish: ripping CDs, DVDs, and BDs (Blu-Ray Disc), playing back virtually any media in true bit perfection, and managing your entire database, all controlled from your iOS or Android device. Completely passive, the SilenZio generates minimal heat and zero noise during normal use and playback. Zero fans. Zero spinning Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). The internal BD-R, which is your source for ripping, makes noise only during your ripping process. SilenZio is the culmination of articulate planning, immaculate design, professional assembly, effective training, and utilization of the finest components available. From its 100% aluminum chassis to the specifically chosen, system-tuned low-latency RAM to the highest performing solid state drive in the world, the SilenZio AE-2 wants for nothing but to be used in the most resolving of HiFi and Home Theater systems. Getting the most from your SilenZio is within your reach, even for users who consider themselves novices. Included with each SilenZio system is a comprehensive, in-depth, easy-to-understand and, most importantly, easy-to learn one-on-one remote training and configuration session (up to the first 2 hours) to learn how to utilize the system in generating the finest digital audio and video reproduction possible within your HiFi or Home Theater rig. In other words, Audio by E not only “talks the talk” but “walks the walk.” Where other so-called media/music server companies want to sell you a box and point you to an online forum – leaving you to fend for yourself, Audio by E takes it to the next level, going above and beyond for clients. We’re not successful unless you’re successful in using your SilenZio. The time to upgrade your rig is now. The time to get off spinning media is yesterday! SilenZio users typically retire the physical spinning media once ripped because when they A/B the SilenZio versus their expensive transports: 1) the SilenZio sounds better, or 2) they are unable to tell the difference. This is the ultimate test of a media server, and the SilenZio does not disappoint! Each SilenZio comes with: - (1) Black or Silver media server (pictured) - (1) Basic power cable - (1) Windows 7 Professional DVD + Product Key - Miscellaneous literature of components within the system - (1) Remote training and configuration session, up to 2 hours SilenZio Specs: - 4th Generation Intel (Haswell) low-wattage CPU - 16GB 1600MHz, low-latency RAM - 128GB SSD - A/G WiFi built-in (external antennae) - Z97-based Motherboard - 100% Aluminum chassis, passively cooled - 240w integrated, passive SM power supply - BD-Recorder, slot-load SilenZio Connectivity: - 1x Gigabit Ethernet - 1x WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band (2.4/5GHz) - 2x USB 2.0 - 4x USB 3.0 - 1x DVI (up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz) - 1x HDMI (up to 4096x2304 @ 24hz, 1080p @ 60Hz) - 1x DisplayPort (up to 4096x2304 @ 24hz, 1080p @ 60Hz) - 2x USB 2.0 (front, right of chassis) Software included and tuned specifically for optimal fidelity on the SilenZio: - JRiver Media Center 20 - Exact Audio Copy Dimensions of SilenZio: - 435mm (W) x 325mm (D) x 60mm (H) - 17.13" (W) x 12.8" (D) x 2.36" (H) *Features and pricing subject to change as the market or client demands. **2015-03-11 Minor Update - Silenzio AE-S2.6 now has an updated power supply. |
Wow. Looks like you are ready for Prime Time.
Have been wanting to see what the unit looks like and love the simple clean design. Looks like it is time to be giving this some attention. |

I will also mention this is a completely open architecture system.
As DAC hardware or local software changes this can be updated. And you are not in a closed environment where what you rip there essentially is trapped there. One rip and you're done - forever. With an archive-grade rip. And you can put it anywhere (insert "that's what she said" joke here) on your network/device/etc. So, basically it's Silenzio plus "pick the NAS that fits what you are going to grow into..." |
I want to learn more. What resources do you have to educate on set-up and use? How will this integrate into my system?

Setup is handled remotely and you receive up to your first two hours of remote training and final system config as part of the purchase price. Folks that are in the Bay Area, CA may get on-site delivery and training if they are really, really nice. :) |
Please tell me more. I am looking at the Antipodes DX right now.
|
Chris, if you have any questions, please post them here. (You can also PM if you have something specific.)
I can always add more "general" information that is useful to the masses to the original post as I answer the questions people have. |

You are going to be a fun one... because Silenzio is like a Lays Potato Chip - you can't have just one. Sort of like systems for you! :lmao: |

The Silenzio has no flaws, quirks, or unnatural pauses - EVER. It just works exactly the way you wish a music server should work. Both my Silenzios operate off the one NAS which saves money on the second purchase.
Ivan may have a few lightly used music servers for sale if Emile can configure the NAS to feed ALL the systems that Ivan has in the Cape.:D I wish I had a third system so I could buy another Silenzio. "E" is the BEST. |
It is a great component. It's my source 75% of the time. Can access all my hi-res and red book music instantly with the JRiver app on my iPhone. The storage E sets up is scalable as your collection grows and is hot-swappable so your music is safe. I recommend it.

I just ordered mine.
Plus a few other things. Thanks Ivan... |
Chris is going to have a rockin' beach pad very soon, let me tell you.
-worthy! |
I've got one on order!

E, what is your recommendation for connectivity to a MCD500 (which does not have a USB port)?
|
Glad I got my training in before E starts building for this wave of demand. Congrats to all the new and future Silenzio owners!

Few questions: how would you hook this up to a dac without usb ? What is the price for your music server ? Does it have a built in tb hard drive ? |

--- no idea how they sound 2. PM Emile 3. Yes, it is a solid state (silent) hard drive. It is also super fast! |
There is HDMI and toslink out. However the toslink is more of the failsafe; I would personally get a USB to spdif like the bryston buc1 if you don't have USB. That would be the way to connect your 500/550.
There is no internal mass storage. That should never be in the server as it closes the environment. All data goes on a network attached storage device which grants redundancy and feeding multiple devices from a single source. |

Silenzio Testimonial
I hope you all have had a great start to the New Year! May good health, good fortune, and happy listening be in your future. 🔉🔊🎵🎶🎵
I saw this post get updated recently and wanted to pass along my sincere thanks to E- for helping me get my system working so beautifully. Using his Silenzio as my source/server has opened up new worlds of music for me. I've been able to back up my SACD collection, rip hundreds and hundreds of CD's, and down load new Hi-Rez releases of old favorites. I now can play play all of my music at a touch of a finger to any of my iOS devices. It's wonderful! And the sound is spectacular! All silent, or I should say, all Silenzio! Now that I know I love this so much, there will be a new DAC in my future. The Teac was a great start, but a BDA-3, or a Meitner may be what the doctor ordered. Thank you E- http://www.audioaficionado.org/membe...3574-image.jpg http://www.audioaficionado.org/membe...3573-image.jpg |
