Cary DAC 100 questions for the experts...
Just got this DAC in the system and I am blown away with the detail and clarity compared to my Conrad Johnson DA-3.
Some observations. HUGE disparity in recordings now. Sounds almost BRIGHT compared to the CJ because of the amount of detail. Wife suggested maybe I should have bought the tube version. Also, the 48k light came on when I played Peter Gabriel from the Wadia. Any opinions about this DAC and the 100t? Looks great. I want to listen to one one of these days.

I bought it from the factory. It was a trade in. It sounds like it wasn't all the way broken in. The last few days it's starting to sing.
It's so good that I stopped listening to records. Has the attributes of vinyl but with a black background. Of course now some recordings sound pretty bad because you can hear WAY back into the recording. I just heard a flaw in a Frank Sinatra song. Funny how good live recording really. The jump of the music survives more often. |
I really enjoy mine.Great sound

I stunned by how good it is. I makes all the problems with records more pronounced!!!

hey Guys...got a question.
Buddy of mine letting me use the Cary Audio DAC-100 until I get something down the road. :) But having some issues. I connected to my 2015 MacBook Pro Retina using USB. Followed the manual to a T. I thought! :) No sound. checked the MacBook Sound in System Preferences and clicked the Cary Audio. No sound. Running RCA analogue to the McIntosh C1100. Going to hook up a CD player after work with a dig coax just to make sure its working there too. I had intended it to use strictly from my MacBook or external music drive. |
