W4S Recovery x 3 installed
 

Today I installed my 3rd W4S Recovery, and really love what it does for my already dialed in systems.

I did upgrade the included USB cable to a WW Platinum Starlight 7 USB 0.5M cable and also use an iPower 9v power supply. Just like last year when I added the W4S Remedy on my coax/digital lines, the Recovery took all of one minute to put a smile on my face.

In a nutshell, the music is more fluid, organic, and to coin a phrase "more lifelike". This is no small feat mind you; I'm talking about my Burmester, Grandioso, Aida rig which is so dialed in and tweaked, that I would have bet this would have done nothing. In fact, I was thinking this could actually have a negative effect on the sound.

What's going on inside that minuscule box matters not; what comes out is nothing short of pure magic. Hands down the least bucks spent for the most improved sound. At this price point, it is an absolute no brainer!

Interesting enough, experience THE SAME this evening as I plugged-in the Recovery that had just arrived via UPS. Sound actually got better as time went by, several hours later. I'm sold as well.
My W4S DSDse has just 7 days of burned-in time and I definetly heard a difference once Recovery was plugged-in. 1+1=2 in this configuration.

BTW, I want to thank Chops for researching and finding the iFi iPower as a power supply upgrade. I had no idea of where to look even and he told me about this nice little unit! It is an inexpensive way of getting even a tad more performance out of this amazing little box!

I am on day 2 of having a Recovery and 0.5m WW Platinum Starlight between my Silenzio and K03x and am simply impressed. I tested one song from my Accuphase Sampler Disc 1, 'Dialogue with Bass'. I have this ripped to a DSF file and it has noticeable 'glare' and smearing of the cymbals which are isolated and clearly struck in this piece. The decay is muddy.

In comes the Recovery and the cymbals sound perfect. I can't describe it any other way. My listening continues and I don't always hear it as better but it never detracts from life without it.

Thanks to Charles and Randy for driving this and Dan for giving it that extra kick. And of course, Ivan for supplying the unit itself and the cable.

Next up for me is to compare the streaming file with the Recovery in place to the SACD original.
