Mike.......The Onkyo is a pretty slick music player. I checked out the Pioneer XPD-100R-K and I like it better. Amazon has the Pioneer for $543.00. I am thinking this would make a fine high-res player to feed the sound system in my Tahoe.
http://images.cdn.whathifi.com/sites...?itok=OE4wKks5 I just finished reading the Pioneer manual. This is a full featured high-res player. http://pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/Ima...130XDP100B.PDF |
Just bought the onkyo. It's back ordered so a while before I'll have a report. Ability to do balanced phones and stream tidal did it for me. Plus, one box solution (rather than separate headphone amp/dac). We'll see.
I have so much travel coming up, I need to do something besides this tin can of an iPhone. |

on a similar note, I use their software app they make for Apple devices to replace itunes and it supports up to 192k files all types and has custom EQ etc.
They do have a nice unit you listed her, I like it! |
I'm waiting for the new Sony. Not the gold one though.

What new Sony? I may have missed one in my research.

I believe there is a review in the latest issue of TAS on the Onkyo.
I have an Ayres Pono for my portable player. It gives me everything I need in a portable player! |
I also have a pono, but the user interface just didn't do it for me. I got one of the originals ("signed by Emmy Lou"), but just never really liked it. Form factor is also funky. No Bluetooth and no streaming. I wanted it to work so badly, but it didn't. Of course, this onkyo might end up in that same pile.

I am ok with the interface, not in love with it. Not the best, but functional in that it works. I do wish it had a larger touch screen with more information. Blue tooth and streaming are completely irrelevant to me. With the built in 64 GB and an add on 200 GB card I keep plenty of music on it.
I actually like the form factor though. It just feels right in my hand and the unit does sound fantastic. I can definitely see the Ayres touch in the performance! |
