Rafael Nadal wears $525,000 watch at the French Open

Rafa took to the court Tuesday at the French Open with a new timepiece from Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille. The RM 027 Tourbillon was made specially for Nadal and features a carbon-composite case and lithium alloys, which are just fancy ways of saying that it's really, really light. It weighs just 20 grams (equivalent to about eight pennies) so Nadal can wear it during matches.

I would have a hard time not worrying about damaging my $525,000 watch more than thinking about tennis.

Rafael,
Do you really need to know what time it is during the French Open? Really?
:D

There is no such thing as a watch worth half a million dollars.

Although I am as guilty in purchasing relatively expensive time pieces, this brand - Richard Mille defy real life explanation to its calling price.

Take this pictured piece for example, its also a Tourbillon and the calling USED price is S$300k. Seriously, this had already been "laundered" for close to a month and I dont think it will ever fly off the shelve.

With that kind of money, I could buy my just procured Platinum Rolex Day-Date and a full MBL Reference System (Model 101E MKII speakers) and live happily ever after than looking at this watch and wondered if I have lost my mind in the twilight horology world. :laughin:

Seriously, I would never have that kind of money to buy this kind of watches but that does not make me a sour grape to make this kind of statement against the brand. Yes John, I fully agree with your statement! Or to be realistic, there is no watch I would go buy beyond S$70k. Yes siree!

Cheers!
