Looks very very promising!
But will be quite a bit more expensive also. |
93k! Wow.

Most likely one of the world's greatest speakers..but once again priced at what most people feel as unobtanium. OTOH, compared to some of the other maker's flagships...like the new Wamm, probably more in line with the expected market.
I guess we have to count our blessings that the standard price for high-end speakers that can perform like high end speakers hasn't reached into the millions of $$ yet! Ssshh, I think we may need to keep this thought to ourselves, LOL...:D:damnit::naughty::naughty: |

If I ever upgrade my speakers, these are candidates No. 1! :D
The beautiful thing is: you will hear the same qualities trickling down to the G4 Giya, which is already a very serious competitor now, in its price range (22K here). |
Still below $100K, so for example Wilson has at least three lines of speakers priced above the G1.
Price a pair of Sonus Faber Aida sometime as well. A high price for high performance, as Vivids always have been, but well worth it. |

Nice full review in the January 2018 issue of Stereophile.

Thanks will check it out....anyone I've ever heard from with the G1 or G2 1st generation loves them. The new generation of the G1 looks to be a serious upgrade to an already world-class speaker.
Ivan: If memory serves, you were thinking about checking out (the G2?). If my memory is correct, when will that happen? |

Extreme bummer!

That's certainly new.
I'm also amazed anyone had issues of any kind with Philip, but I admit I've only dealt with him as a customer, not as a retailer. Edit: I reached out directly to Vivid's new US contact and found out the reason for the change: Quote:

A quite nice review of the G1 Spirits appears in the May/June issue of TAS, though I would disagree with the reviewer on a few points. :D
|
On which points if I may ask Bill?
|
Sure.
The main one is that he complains that the Spirits are not as revealing on the high end as the Von Schweikert VR-55 Aktive, where I personally have found the VR-55 to be a bit harsh and bright. Not MBL Radialstrahler bright, but still unpleasantly "tizzy" on the high end. To me at least the G1 Spirit sounds natural and pleasant, revealing all the detail without being fatiguing or in any way painful up top. There always seem to be arguments about this sort of thing; I also find B&Ws with their diamond tweeters to be too shrill up top, but Focal's tweeters in their Maestro Utopia Evo and the new Beryllium tweeters in the new Revel PerformaBe F228Be seem just right. The amps the reviewer had on hand were a variety of models that can be a little rolled off up top themselves (except for some Pass amps) and so I wonder if they were just a more synergistic match with the VR-55s with their nature taming the top end and as a result sounding a little dull on the (IMHO more accurate) G1 Spirits. |
Thank you for sharing Bill.
I've heard the G1 Spirit only on one occasion and they sounded very transparent to me. |
